The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the fourth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the second 3D game of the series. It was developed by 3 different developers, Bethesda Game Studios for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows, 4J Studios for the Playstation 3 and Superscape for mobile phones and was published by 2K Games for the Xbox 360 and PC, Bethesda Softworks for the Playstation 3 and Vir2l Studios for Mobile Phones.

It was released as a launch title for the Xbox 360 in March 2006 for the Xbox 360 and Windows, May 2006 for mobile phones and March 2007 for Playstation 3. In 2011 a 5th anniversary edition was released across all platforms it originally released on.

The game centres around the player trying to stop a fantatical cult known as the "Mythic Dawn" in their efforts to open the gates to a land called Oblivion. The game is open world like all the games before it, allowing the player to ignore or postpone doing the main missions of the game for an unknown amount of time whilst the player explores the land of Cyrodiil and levels up.

When it was released it sold 1.7 million copies within the first month of its release and by the time The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in November 2011, the game had sold over 3.5 million copies.
